Be our guest

The first major renovation we tackled was our guest bedroom. Not a surface was left untouched. Here is what the room looked like the day we moved in:

Move in day

Not much going on. We knew buying this house that under all that carpet were original hardwood floors. I couldn’t wait to get that carpet ripped up. We were thrilled with the condition of the floors.

The guest bed went back in and it was officially our guest room. It was not cozy at all. Michael thought this would be a good room to practice our DIY skills. He refinished the walls (they had a slight texture) to make them smooth. We retextured the ceiling, refinished the hardwood floors, added new trim and base, new closet doors, new entry door and paint. We still have a few things to add: more art on the walls, window coverings, a dresser. We are so proud of our first finished room.

Here is the before:

And the after:

I decided to go with a Black and white theme to offset the bright green walls. I love how everything turned out.

One day I will add blinds, but for now I love how the light floods in.

And the guests lived happily every after πŸ™‚

The sunset strikes the western wing bedroom windows in a way that can only be descirbed as poetic. A writers dream if you will. Or perhaps an artist looking for inspiration in the landscape of a quaint country town. During your stay, please enjoy a cup of the finest tea, while enjoying your favorite book illuminated by that western sun.
